Our client is a private equity backed specialist engineering and technical consulting business. The company has developed an innovative software solution which they now want to take to the cloud and deliver as a Software as a Service.

As a result the company is keen to employ an Interim Commercial Consultant who can deliver a strategic plan for launch, implement that plan on board approval and then potentially run the business longer term.

Key components of the interim role will be:

• Working with the Business Directors create a strategic vision for the dramatic growth of the new SaaS proposition and the team and processes required to deliver this visio
• Conduct Market Appraisal – who will buy it, what do they want, how much will they pay via what mechanisms, what is stopping them buying it at the moment
• Identify the key markets that should be focused upon
• Work with the Sales Team and Head of Marketing to produce Sales and Marketing Plans including direct and channel selling, market messaging, etc. The emphasis should be on how to facilitate the transition from the current low volume – high salesperson involvement model to high volume – low salesperson involvement approaches
• Ensure the Sales and Marketing plans are executed using extra and current resources as required
• Feeding development requirements to the technical team
• Driving growth internationally, particularly in the US and EU

• Knowledge and experience in developing a cloud-based, software as a service business and a software products company
• Experience in developing the right strategy and implementation plans for a start up business
• Experience of market appraisal, targeting and building specific offerings and messages
• Ideally experience within Information Management in its broadest sense
• Understanding of product financial models and how these differ from services
• Working with alternative sales channels (direct, partner, reseller)
• A self-starter
