On Sunday 2nd of August, three of the Marble Hill Partners team will be taking part in the Prudential RideLondon 2015 event – a 100-mile cycle race following the 2012 Olympic route – alongside 25,000 other competitors.

Sam Smith – MD, Arden Tomison – Director and Nick Kingma – Associate have been spending most of their spare time in the past few months training in preparation, and are gearing up for the big event in two weeks time.

The event organisers are striving to make RideLondon the largest charity fundraising cycling event in the world, and we’ll be adding to their fundraising efforts, raising money in support of Leukemia & Lymphoma Research.

The event

The event, part of the 2012 Olympic legacy, is a two-day festival of cycling.  Kicking off in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the cyclists will follow a 100 mile route through the city of London and into the Surrey countryside.

Cyclists will enjoy a traffic-free ride through usually congested locations such as Canary Wharf, Hammersmith, Chiswick and Richmond Park, before crossing Hampton Court Bridge along the route made famous by the road race and time-trial events during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The most physically challenging parts of the route for our cyclists will be the ascent of Leith Hill and the world-famous zig-zags of Box Hill.  After tackling these obstacles, riders head back into London, streaming under Admiralty Arch before a spectacular finish along The Mall.

Team preparation

Keen cyclists Sam, Arden and Nick started preparing for the ride some months ago, with intense last stage preparations now underway.

All three have been commuting by cycle, and Arden undertook a London to Bristol ride recently.  Nick has also participated in a 60 day Insanity workout.

The rest of the team have been supporting their efforts, and are expecting great things from our three!

The cause

We’ll be raising money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Research, a charity which we have supported over the past few years.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Research is the UK’s leading blood cancer research charity, dedicated to saving and improving the lives of patients with blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The ultimate aim of the charity is to prevent development of the disease, eradicating it altogether and saving many lives in the process. To continue their work, the charity needs to raise over £20 million every year.

You can support the Marble Hill Partners team on their challenge by donating at our Just Giving page here.

Good luck to Sam, Arden, Nick and all participants of the Prudential RideLondon 2015!
